Competition
The only organ competition in Croatia is named after a famous printer from Motovun who published many of the works which the young organists up to 35 years of age will be performing on the competition.
The biennial competition is held regularly since 2004. In first three editions the members of jury were eminent European specialists in their sector. These people are respectively specialised in early music, passionate about avant-garde and new or committed interpreters of classical pieces and their effort maintains and improves the image of this Competition.
The International Organ Competition Andrea Antico da Montona is a huge challenge for each organist. Following the model of renowned European competitions, the organists have to compete with the task to master different instruments. And just like the Organum Histriae Festival, the Competition has regional character; it presents three competition levels held in three different locations in Istria where performances on different instruments will take place. Besides the monetary prize, the main prize is a possibility to perform in three concerts organised by our Agency on different European and Croatian festivals .
The repertoire given stretches from Renaissance to contemporary works and on each level of the Competition the soloist has to perform three pieces, one of which has to be a work composed by Andrea Antico da Montona.
This year, due to financial straits, the Competition is unfortunately suspended, but the young organists are thus invited to follow the news so to be informed promptly about the new edition.
